I started to explore this approach for Anti-complexity reasons.
I don’t want to think endlessly on how to match colors, and other elements. So I defined a set of rules to guide me in the design process.
- Use 3 colors. Black and white are the most common choices, plus another one to highlight special elements. (Exception: the color of buy-buttons)
- Put connected elements close. Otherwise leave white space to demarcate a separation.
- Align elements of the page left or right. If you put everything to the center is a chaos. Give that position only to special elements.
- Make sure that an element is necessary. Or take it off and leave white space.
- Does is highlight essential information?
- Does it guide the reader in the right direction?
- White backgrounds are more relaxing and easier to read.
- Use a border, or a different background only for uniqueness
- These rules also apply to the Navigation.
